CT Abdomen Scan, Abdominal CT Scan
CT abdomen scans give doctors a 3-dimensional visual image that provides doctors
with detailed information about diseases and disorders of the abdominal region.
The abdomen, known more commonly as the “belly,” contains all the structures
between the chest and the pelvis. With a CT abdomen scan, doctors can screen
patients for diseases and disorders of the following organs:
- Liver
- Kidney
- Spleen
- Pancreas
- Lower gastrointestinal tract
- Colon
- Rectum
- Gallbladder
- Bladder
- Appendix
- Stomach
- Small intestine
- Organs and tissues of the abdominal region
CT abdomen scans give doctors more detailed information on conditions in these
areas than do regular x-rays (radiographs).
