PET/CT and lymphoma Diagnosis and treatment
Diagnosing lymphoma or determining the type and age of lymphoma requires a
number of tests. PET/CT is normally used in helping to treat lymphoma, along
with other tests such as physical examination, blood tests, bone marrow aspiration
and biopsy and lumbar puncture (spinal tap).
PET/CT can help a surgeon accurately stage and locate lymphomas in the body
A doctor may also order a PET/CT to see if the cancer has spread to other parts
of the body, such as the areas surrounding the lymph nodes. The CT scan on the
PET/CT will be ideal for gathering this information.
