Lung Tumours
Tumours are lumps that form in the body as a result of out-of-control cell
division. Tumours can be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
CT lung scans can detect and evaluate the extent of tumors in the lung and mediastinum,
the central part of the lung cavity, behind the sternum (breastbone) and between
the two lungs. In some cases, tumors have spread to the lung and mediastinum
from other parts of the body. CT lung scans are routinely used to assess whether
lung and mediastinum tumors are responding to treatment.
