Electron beam computed tomography heart scans
EBT or electron beam computed tomography is the most accurate type of CT scan
in terms of screening for cardiac coronary calcification. EBT allows cardiologists
to diagnose and treat heart disease long before it becomes too severe to manage.
EBT CT heart scans, also called EBT calcium scoring, provide doctors with a
3-D image of the entire anatomy of the patient’s heart. This allows them to
measure the size and volume of any existing arterial plaque. Doctors can also
use EBT CT scan results to track the progress and results of heart fitness programs.
A decrease in calcium deposits indicate that a program is working and the heart
disease is improving; an increase means that the heart disease remains and the
program is not working.
