What is the difference between MRI and CT?

CT uses x-rays to detect and create images of the radiation absorbed by different body tissues. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), however, does not use x-rays at all. Rather, it uses a magnetic field to examine the hydrogen atoms in body water. MRI scans show details in body tissues due to differences in water content.
