Tumours of the Mediastinum
Tumours are lumps that form in the body as a result of out-of-control cell
division. Tumours can be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
The mediastinum is the central part of the lung cavity, behind the sternum (breastbone)
and between the two lungs. In some cases, tumors have spread to the mediastinum
from other parts of the body. CT lung scans are routinely used to assess whether
mediastinum tumors are responding to treatment.
