Inflammation/Diseases of the Pleura

The pleura are the membrane that lines the lungs and the inside of the lung cavity. Its purpose is to protect and cushion the lungs. CT lung scans can determine the presence of pleurisy, and inflammation of the pleura that usually results from other inflammations or infections of the lungs.
