Inflammation/Diseases of the Pleura

The pleura are the membrane that lines the lungs and the inside of the chest cavity. Its purpose is to protect and cushion the lungs. CT chest scans can determine the presence of pleurisy, an inflammation of the pleura that usually results from other inflammations or infections of the lungs.
