PET/CT & Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson's disease is a progressive degenerative disorder affecting the motor
or movement pathways in the brain. In Parkinson's disease nerve cells in the
part of the brain that produces dopamine begin to decrease in number. This causes
a decrease in the amount of the available dopamine.
In Parkinson's disease, there is not enough dopamine and this result in imbalance
and a lack of coordination of movement that often appears as tremor, stiff muscles
and joints, and/or difficulty moving.
